Rough and Tumble Quilt in Red, White and Blue from A Little Bit Biased

Red, white and blue is one of my favorite color combos and I'm a firm believer that one can never have too many red, white and blue quilts.  I have a couple of red, white and blue flag quilts, a couple of red, white and blue star quilts, a red quilt, some blue quilts. I even have a red, white and blue Pineapple quilt.  But I didn't have a plain red, white, and blue patchwork quilt...so I set off to make one last June.

I grabbed lots of red, white and blue fabrics from my stash and ...

FF-UFO 2024 from Grandma's Red Needle

 First Finished UFO 2024!

I had this Patriotic Table Runner already thread basted (last year).
Last Sunday, I decided to sew all day and I did all the quilting! Straight seams take time and are a bit tedious, but to finish an item, it has to be done, right?! The binding was done the next day, and voila! Finished!

Available in my Etsy Shop

....and don't you think this little bugger showed up?!
It was hidden on the chair, in between other projects.

It's a small wall hanging I started last year. It's almost done; the gnomes ...

Design Wall Monday - July 3, 2023 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

 Happy Fourth of July!

Here is a picture of the first quilt I ever made, finished in 2002 and named:  God Bless America

And a closeup of one block:

If you want to know more about it, I blogged about it::  (Read post here)

Also pictures of patriotic quilts I’ve made through the years:

All of these were made during the time I’ve been blogging, and if you want any details about them, you could search my blog for “patriotic” or “flag” to get more info.  I do love the American flag.  I may make another patriotic doll ...

Glory Quilt from A Little Bit Biased

If you've been following along with me
on Instagram you may have seen a simple
star/flag quilt I made in July.  I finally got it bound and
photographed so I want to share the details
with you today.

In June of this year, I took a trip to McCall, ID, and happened
upon a really incredible quilt shop called,
J. Beck Home.  I was inspired by the red, white, and blue
fabrics and vintage quilts there and ended up
buying most of the above fabrics.  I had something like this
design floating around in my head for what ...

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Inspired by the runners and table toppers that I saw on Doodlebugs and Rosebuds blog a short while ago, I decided to try my hand at some of these. I found this great patriotic border print and grabbed my 60 degree ruler. In no time at all I had these two runners and a table topper pieced and ready to go. I loaded one piece of backing fabric, sandwiched in some left over batting scraps, and

Poppy Pod Lane from Nestlings By Robin

I have a love of poppy flowers and
have designed some larger quilts
that the magazines maybe find
overwhelming...?

So I designed a smaller piece and
picked it up:)  YAY!
Their magazine is so full of beauty.

I started previewing my fabrics
to see how they would look
as quarter-square triangles.

Once the top was finished,
it was time to work on the
embroidery for the
applique' section.

Once all my applique'
was fused in place,
on to basting....

Yes, I pin baste
small projects for
machine quilting.

My quilting was straight
stitching along the diagonal line ...

Welcome, Sam! from From the Strawberry Patch...

Meet Sam, he's the newest guard to be posted at the door to my sewing room; he's arrived just in time for Memorial Day, Flag Day and the 4th of July! As my friend commented when she saw him under construction: "he's a yankee doodle dandy", that he surely is. Sam is a Country Threads pattern (thanks, Mary and Connie for another wonderful pattern!). Sam joins the ranks of an army of sentries who

Patriotic Table Runners, This and That from Grandma's Red Needle

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. For us, it was just normal days. Here, compared to Norway, there are no public holidays related to Easter. In Norway; Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays. Now that we are on partial lockdown (phase #1 in reopening), all church services are closed. If you would like to know more about lockdown Easter celebration in Mauritius, click here

UFO's are put aside, since I'm currently working on two Patriotic table runners. It's a custom order to one in the US.

OOOH! That photo doesn't ...

Pride & Glory from Appalachian Quilts

I wanted to have this one up for Veteran's Day, but my binding fingers just weren't fast enough.  When I was quilting Gilly's Stars and Stripes, I was thinking 'this quilt doesn't look like what I remember it looking like'.  Ummm, that's because I was thinking of a different quilt!  I had totally forgotten about that one and was thinking of this one when I thought about that allover design.  Funny thing is -- this runner hasn't been hanging up for a long time.  It's relatively newer.  They say the first thing to go ...

Gilly's Stars and Stripes Table Runner from Appalachian Quilts

Some quilters will throw out a challenge every January based on what year it is.  For example:  10 quilts in 2010.  Up until about 2015 (think 15 quilt finishes), I participated.  Then, life got in the way.  I'm absolutely amazed at the ladies who are striving for 20 in 2020!  For me, having all the flimsies (finished tops that just need quilted) from shop samples and class samples, it seems like a great challenge to get some of them completed.  I even will challenge myself to quilt a flimsie if I 'allow' myself to piece yet another.  Back when ...
